Reflection on Blog (:

Earlyin the year I came into this calss not knowing anytthing about computers or film-making. Now the end of the year is near and I have gathered some understanding of film-making along with other elements. At the start of the year I learned the importance of filming and using a camera properly. I learned how to set it up on the tripad and how to dump the video on to the computer and capture the images onto permier pro; this process is still a hard one but I have grasped an undeerstanding of it. Going back to permier pro I learned how to use this program at the begining of thye year the class learned about permier pro and how to use it. I learned about the time line, the source pannal, project pannal where the clips go and the pannal where you view the clips on the time line. Knowing how to capture the video onto the computer and permier pro was very important because for my first assignment for the class i had to film myself and give an itroduction of who I am and post it on my blogg. Knowing how to edit the clip and take things out to make the clip clean and understandable made my first project a succses for being the first permier pro project I did. On my second project I had to learn about making titles and scrip wrighting. For the titles I had to learn about lower thirds titles and how to make them apper on the screen and then go away when I wanted them to; I also learned that you can have a title apper on the first shot or clip you take or any clips by puting the clip on the time line locatting the dagger on the time line and putting on the clip then going to the title tab and creating a title like a lower thirds title on the image its self. i grasped this concept fairly quickly. As for the script wrighting this was not so essy but it wasn't rocket science. to write a scrip I had to learan what actions were and the different types of camera angles and shots and how to write the diologue and then open up fireworks wich is a program in the computer thats designed for scrip writing and write in my script using action words, camera angles and shots and formating diologue and much more. Later on in nthe year I showed how I grasped the concepts of putting a video toghether in permier pro. This is shown in a project I did with Sam. In this project i showed how i  can edit the clips move them to the time line and add transitions and titles. You can also see this in the most recent project that I did with Sam as well. Something else I learned from being in this calss is working with others as I mentioned one of thouse people already. Working with other classmantes helped me inmprove my social skills as well as being able to work with others and being patient. I also learned how to taking in other ideas and put out my ideas for others to hear; This is a very important skill one must have when it comes to film-making and I have been a team player sense day one. Working with others was fun. From all this film-making I have to say that edditing would be the hardest thing that I had to do because you cannot just drag the clips onto the time line, add transitions and say I'm done. That just makes your video horrible and it show that you didn't cear for it and didn't put in alot of hard work into making the video. In order for the video to look presentable and understandable you have to take your time to edit and put it together in an order that will make sense. At times I just wanted to throw clips toghether and say I'm done because the editing would not come out how I wanted it to come our or the computer didnnot want to comply with me but I didn't I stuck thrugh it all untill the end, asked for help when I really needed it and worked hard on whatever project I was given amd that shows in all my videos. They did have to be done at profesional level but they are readable and understandable and my hard work paid of in this calss. Proud of everything I have learned in this class.

The second special effect i used was the lens flare. You find this special effect by going to permiere pro and opening up the video effects folder and open up the generate folder and scroll down to lens flare. you change the seetings same way as the first effects you chose. You would most likely see this effect in a video when one is doing an opening shot and moving the camera from the sun or trying to really hilight a person making them seem like the sun.

The effect I used for this video was the twirl one. To find this special effect you open permier pro and go to the video effects video, then you go to the distort folder and scroll down until you see trwil. To change the setings of this effect you go to the effect controls panel and you chose what form you want the effect to take. You may use this in a film when a character beginns or is hallusinating.

The special effects that my partner and I used where first we cut the music using the rasor looking gaget. We cut the music at the very biginning to slow the timing so the picture actuually captured what the line was discribing. We also used tittle overlay when it came to adding the lines to the pictures. Towards the end of the video, before we uploaded it to our bloggs we went back to the first picture wich was of the Jabbawock and we enlarged it because it was to small. The effect that I believe worked was the tittle overlay. This worked well for us because as the stanza is being read one could see the picture and the lines and follow the story smoothly. The mood we where trying to communicate was that of  mystery. We went with a mysterius mood because in our stanza the jabbawock is still introduced as a mysterious creture. The idea we where trying to convey by showing you the image and effect is that the Jabbawock is a frightning cretur and it brings chills to one when they here about it.

Thinking About Our Final Values Video

Positives:  actors committed a 100% (Cassie&Alexis)
8.5 for editing (Cassie&Alexis)
The name is fine, (Cassie&Alexis)
I especially liked the establishing shot, because it sets up the entire short film (Jaay)

Suggestions:   The end credits need to disapear fulling before the BLOOPERS comes out. (Cassie&Alexis)
The resolution is pretty clear BUT you could show Amanda walking up to Alejandro from behind to come talk to him to add to it and also fix the odd transititon. (Cassie&Alexis)
You could maybe add some music to show the tension between Alejandro and the bullies. (Jaay)

I would recommend changing the background of the title scene to be a little bit more fitting to the film. (Jaay)

The comment made by Cassie and Alexis help us feel confident in how we portrayed our caracters. Also on the theme we feel like we did a good job. A lot of suggestions that we got was on addiding music in the part were the bullies come in which we do if there is time which there should be.
The two best seggestions we got wher addding music and showing Amanda walking up to Alejandro.

Video

1)The value that my group and I are trying to represent is speaking up for others when they are in need.
2)I agree with Sam when she states that our group has done the editing well. Each one of us shared the work of editing and putting in our own ideas. Also as Sam states we added comedy to our video by having two girl bullies bullying a boy.
3)What my group still needs to complete is the transition between Zach and bulllies leaving and Sam and Luis talking.
4)What we need most feed back on is if our video flows smoothly and if the transitions are understandable. And also if we used the right camera angles as Sam states.
5)At first we descovered that we needed a second person to play the second bully. We got Michaela to play the second bully. Also having two females playing the bullies; we were unsure how peoplle would react to it but we were able to get around that and sell the theme we were trying to portray.

My group and I planned the shoots by first loooking at where we werr (the setting) and then going from there. I belive that my group and I did not fully folow the rule of thirds. In some shots the person is right in the middle but in others it seems as if the person would be alighned with the rule of thirds. The impressions that the over the sholder shots creat is that it allows one to see the characters expressions and reactions. It lets the viewer get into the act. The dioluge seems very realistic. The challenges I faced while editing was figuring out exactly where to edit/cut the clips. The dominant tone is someone who is very agiteded in to knowing what the money is for and the other character is indiferent. When ever I do over the sholder shots again I have to be sure not to cut out the person im doing the over the shoulder shot, I need to keep them in the shot. Remembering lines is important and try not to cut out a person and don,t face the sun when filming.
